[LinP3] Re: No more balikbayan visas?

The application of rules, much as with this group, is up to the
individual applying them. Some will go by the letter of the law while
others apply a more liberal policy. I have never been denied a
balibayan stamp in my passport when I asked for it. It all depends on
which customs agent you come across and whether they are having a good
or bad day/night. Unfortunately that is something we cannot control.
The decree clearly states that spouses are allowed to enter under
this privilege. No matter how much we debate it here, if a customs
agent, for any reason, says no, we have little choice except to ask
for their supervisor or say "Thank You" and move on. Until every
customs agent can come to a concensus, it is a crap shoot.

does prove that it is still working, But inconsistantly. When we
returned in the end of aug I posted on this site about this [edit]
others posted that they had had problems in getting the stamp as well.
I don't want to mis quote them so the archieves should be checked. I
got a lot of good information from this group that helped on that trip
so in the spirit of sharing information I am sharing one family's
experience. Greetings from Ca. Art B
